About Resilience of the Community

Our Artistic Mission

This spring, East Coast Divers lost its longtime home to a devastating fire. While the building was destroyed, the community that has made ECD such a special place remains stronger than ever.

The most desired item of the auction is now available as a print and is an opportunity for friends, divers, artists, businesses, and ocean lovers everywhere to come together in support of ECD's next chapter.

The florescent parts glow under a blacklight. I am using a local print shop so the colors will be an exact match and replica at different price points depending on size and material choices. I know paying over $5,000 is out of budget for many and wanted to make it available to others in the community that inspired my work while raising more money for ECD. Local pick up at Panopticon Imaging in Rockland or shipping for an additional fee is available. Each order is custom made and will take the print shop some time to create for you

All profits from this painting will help East Coast Divers establish its future home—a place where new divers will earn their first certification, experienced divers will continue their adventures, friendships will grow, and our community can gather for years to come.

About the painting

This is not a quiet painting.

“Resilience of the Community” is a large (36" x 48" or 3' x 4' ) original impressionist work created with custom-blended paints and specialty pigments. This is the largest painting I have ever done as I was overwhelmed at the outpouring of support after the fire and inspired to show how big the impact was. All the volunteers restoring my faith in humanity coming together doing something good.

It shows the East Coast Divers shop during post fire clean up, as well as the operation phenix logo with a border on top and bottom with divers and marine life. Portions of the original piece react under blacklight, and other sections glow in the dark—because one version of the artwork was not enough.

I wanted to highlight the rising from the ashes and all the glowing positivity the community gave like magic. In the dark the destruction fades and only the rebirth and community light up as though swimming in bioluminescent algae. The regular copies will not glow in the dark as the pigment is invisible however the blacklight effect will. You can purchase the glow as an additional enhancement and I will hand paint it on your copy to enjoy the full effect.

It is bold, layered, a little unexpected, and inspired by everyone who came together in a moment of crisis and what can happen when people keep showing up for one another.

Now available in multiple sizes and formats. I am beyond humbled at everyone's in person and online reaction and am happy to be a powerful force for good with my time and talents.
